Wagering requirements and the real value of a bonus
Wagering requirements are the multiplier that decides whether a headline percentage means anything. Divide the size of the offer by that multiplier and you have the only number worth comparing: a hundred percent at forty times rollover produces 2.5, and the same hundred percent at twenty times produces double that. Every bonus score on this site is that division, and nothing else.
| # | Casino | Offer and rollover | Score | Open the casino |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | wager-free bonus: winnings are withdrawable without rollover | 8.4/10 | Open | |
| 2 | 590% match at 40x wagering, 225 free spins | 8.3/10 | Open | |
| 3 | 200% match at 40x wagering | 7.9/10 | Open | |
| 4 | 325% match at 35x wagering, 400 free spins | 7.5/10 | Open | |
| 5 | 550% match at 45x wagering, 200 free spins | 7.4/10 | Open |
The guide
The division that reorders every bonus list
Take three offers from this roster. BitStarz runs 100% at 40x. Spinbetter runs the same 100% at 35x. Identical headlines, and the second is worth twice the first, because half as much turnover stands between you and the money. Then Fairspin advertises 550% at 45x, and even at that heavy multiplier the sheer size of the match carries it to the top of the scale.
Which is the useful lesson. A big number at a heavy rollover can still beat a small number at a light one, so neither figure means anything alone. The pairing is the offer. A site that prints one and hides the other is telling you which half is embarrassing.
Rollover on the bonus, or on deposit and bonus
The same multiplier can mean two completely different amounts of play. Some operators apply it to the bonus credit alone. Others apply it to deposit plus bonus, which doubles the turnover on a full match without changing a word of the advertised multiplier. Vavada is explicit about being the first kind: its terms put the wagering on the bonus amount only, at 35x.
Read that clause before the percentage. A lighter multiplier applied to both halves can require more play than a heavier one applied to the bonus, and the wording is usually a single line buried in the bonus policy rather than anywhere near the offer.
What happens when the multiplier is missing
Shuffle runs a sign-up deposit bonus and publishes no percentage, no cap, no minimum deposit and no wagering figure for it. That is scored at 6, deliberately below a modest but fully stated offer, because an unstated rollover could be anything and you find out after the deposit has cleared.
Something similar happens where terms exist but not in one binding place. An offer described one way on the promotions page, another way in the bonus policy and a third way in support chat is not a generous offer, it is an unresolved one. Treat a missing multiplier as a bad multiplier until the operator writes it down.
Offers with no rollover at all
Winz and Weiss take the other route: bonuses with zero rollover, where winnings are withdrawable without clearing anything. The scoring rule gives that the full 10, because there is no division left to do. At Winz the headline piece is daily cashback returning 20% of net crypto losses with no upper cap.
What a wager-free offer costs you is size. Nobody hands over 550% with no strings, so these packages are small, and they suit a player who wants a modest edge without a project attached. A large matched package suits someone who was going to put that turnover through anyway.
The clauses that quietly eat the value
Four of them do most of the damage, and none appear in the headline. A maximum bet while wagering, which voids the bonus if you exceed it once by accident. Game weighting, where a slot spin counts fully and a table hand counts a fraction. A cap on what can be withdrawn from bonus play at all: Fairspin writes in clause 5.14 that a withdrawal originating from any bonus cannot exceed the bonus amount credited, which puts a ceiling on the whole exercise regardless of what you win.
The fourth is time. Betfury requires the first bonus of its welcome pack to be activated within seven days of registering, and a deadline you missed is a bonus you never had. Read the expiry before the percentage, because that one is binary.
Where to take this arithmetic next
Run the division across the whole roster on the list weighted for bonus value, where wager-free offers rise and heavy rollovers sink. For the individual cases, the BitStarz review covers a classic four-deposit package, the Spinbetter review shows the lighter multiplier on the same headline, and the Betfury review puts the largest package here next to the slowest cashier, which is the trade being offered.
Questions about rollover people get wrong
Does a bigger bonus always take longer to clear?
Not necessarily, because the turnover scales with the credit rather than with time. A larger bonus at the same multiplier needs proportionally more play, but so does the bankroll it gave you. What changes the timeline is the multiplier and the game weighting, not the size.
Can I withdraw my deposit while a bonus is active?
Usually only by forfeiting the bonus and anything won with it, and some operators charge a fee on an unwagered deposit for doing so. Check that clause before you accept an offer you are not sure you want.
Why do some casinos run no welcome bonus at all?
Because they pay it back per bet instead. Rakeback returns a share of every wager with no rollover attached, which suits a high-volume player far better than a matched deposit. Those operators are scored on that model rather than penalised for the missing match.
Next step
Arithmetic done? Rank the offers by what survives it
The bonus list orders the roster by percentage divided by wagering rather than by the headline, and the no-wagering list drops the multiplier entirely.
